Keith Deaven
Born in Harrisburg, PA, Keith was raised on the West Shore in Wormleysburg until the age of 13, when he moved to Palmyra. Keith graduated from Palmyra High School and spent four years at Penn State’s Main Campus before moving to Warminster, PA after college to take a position with Nationwide Insurance in Doylestown.
After spending a few years in Warminster, Keith moved to Falls Church, VA to pursue a music career. When that got sidetracked after a few years, he joined a small company called America Online. Starting with jobs encompassing project management and product design, he worked his way through the organization to become the Executive Director of the Producer Team in the AOL Studio for over two years. That team of over 90 people was responsible for project managing the user experience design and production of nearly all AOL properties, giving Keith wide exposure to all facets of creating and running interactive products.
After spending 10 years at AOL and leaving in late 2003, Keith co-founded Mediabarn, a company that specializes in user experience research, design, and staff augmentation. As CEO, he has led Mediabarn through thirteen successful years serving a wide range of federal government and commercial clients. Mediabarn has worked with the U.S Army, U.S. Patent Office, NIH, and the IRS, to name a few within the government. Mediabarn also works with some of the most widely recognized media and education brands like Discovery Communications, National Geographic, The Better Business Bureau, PBS, and Pearson Education. Additionally, Mediabarn has a ventures division that is currently incubating two startup companies that will both launch in Q2 of 2017.
Keith earned a B.S. degree in Labor & Industrial Relations from Penn State University, where he continues to assist the College of Information Sciences and Technology as a speaker in project management and entrepreneurship. Additionally, Keith proudly holds the title President of the Board of Uplifting Athletes, a national non-profit organization aligning college football with rare diseases and raising them as a national priority through outreach, research, education and advocacy.
Keith is uniquely qualified to help Vulnerability Solutions Group as a business strategist and operations expert, having built and managed his own company as well as incubating several startups.
